| Name: Rasengan (Spiraling Sphere) Type: Ninjutsu Sub-type: Basic Rank: B-rank Orientation: Offensive Cost: 7 Effects: Developed by the Leaf Shinobi, the Rasengan is a unique ninjutsu that uses normal chakra and has it spun into a powerful technique, an orb with whirling energy capable of felling foes. The Rasengan is a technique that uses solely shape manipulation to work it's jutsu- Because of this, it requires no hand seals, and is able to be used by ninja regardless of their elemental affinities. The technique consists of three parts- The gathering of chakra to be used for the move, the building on the sphere itself, and the rotation of the chakra- When all three are done properly, the Rasengan will be created. The sphere attacks in a drill-like manner, the rotating chakra furiously striking against whatever it touches to grind away at the of the target. The force of the move is so great that it can fling opponents away with ease. For Chunnins, the jutsu requires a shadow clone to produce the Rasengan. - Spoiler:
“Rasengan?” Her voice echoed through the empty archives.
Scourge Taiyo laid sprawled out among the many textbooks and scrolls; scraps and crumbled pieces of paper littered the ground around the young teenager. The Genshu stared up at the ceiling, listening to her voice rebound off the walls. It was a jutsu from Konoha. A jutsu that she had envied. Unfortunately, with her departure, Scourge had never taken the time to actually attempt to perform or learn the jutsu. Of course, she had done her research. Scourge may not seem like it, but she could study when she needed to, and Rasengan had been a jutsu she had studied deeply. It held her attention. It was a bizarre jutsu, and a powerful one at that.
She closed her eyes, sighing. Why not learn it? It wasn’t like she had much else to do. Being trapped in Ame had it’s downsides. Boredom was one of them. With nothing else to do, would it really hurt to try to be productive? Scourge blinked slowly, not directing her attention away from the ceiling. She supposed not. Her memory was sharp, and she could still remember the steps required to perform the jutsu. In fact, it didn’t sound difficult in the least. To be honest, it was a marvel she had never taken the time to learn the jutsu. Then again, Scourge had a horrid habit of being un-motivated at the worst moments, so for this Genshu, such laziness was understandable. Turning onto her side, Scourge Taiyo rose to her feet, her fingers delicately brushing through her hair, letting the brown strands return to their normal position. Sometimes her hair could get so frazzled that it was beyond the point of aggravation.
She began walking. Her legs leading her from the achieves into a system of hallways. Her mind was elsewhere; both of her hands now settled into her coat pockets. She’d need some round objects. A ball, balloon, or whatever met that criteria. Which, in reality, shouldn’t be too hard to find. She could just walk into a store and find everything that she would need. All in all; if things went well, she’d have a new jutsu up her sleeve in no time. Or so she hoped.
-
“Finally!” She breathed out, dropping the crate she had been carrying, watching it crash onto the ground with a sharp thump. Scourge had gone a bit overboard with buying, but now she wouldn’t have to worry about shopping later when she ran out of supplies. The Genshu glanced around the empty library quietly, inspecting around every corner and bookcase to make sure she was completely alone. This was a Konoha jutsu after all, and even though her loyalties still didn’t lye with them anymore, didn’t mean she wanted anyone else in Ame to know about this jutsu. It was going to go her own little secret. One of the many secrets she already had. With a frown, she returned to the wooden crate, ripping off the wooden top with ease and tossing it aside.
She had spent most of her money on rubber, since that was what she would probably waste the most. She had only bought a hand full of water balloons, and empty balloons that would be soon filled with air. She removed the first water balloon, letting it roll around in her palm. This was apparently the easiest way to learn the jutsu, although the use of such household objects seemed rather ridiculous. Holding the water balloon in hand; she closed her eyes, allowing her chakra to slowly filter into the object. The first step was rotation. Easy enough. The goal was her to destroy the water balloon by only rotating her chakra. It didn’t sound to difficult.
She opened her eyes slowly, and focused her chakra in a circular motion. It wasn’t that difficult, but enough to cause some strain on her part. She had excellent control of her chakra, but it wasn’t every day one attempted to rotate it in such a fashion. Scourge Taiyo frowned, watching the balloon stir slightly. It wasn’t until a moment later did a smirk take over her features. The water was defiantly rotating. The balloon seemed to shift in her hand constantly, almost appearing aggravated. A chuckle escaped her. Perfect.
Wait a minute, how the hell was this supposed to break it? She frowned, deciding to speed the process. The same results, except she watched the balloon shift around at a faster pace.
How was she supposed to break it then? Scourge rotated it around in a different direction, her frown only growing. She continued to rotate her chakra in every which direction. Grumbling under her breath, she grasped the ball with both hands holding it in front of her. How else was she supposed to break it? Overload it with…? She blinked. That might work. Removing her other hand, she focused her chakra, this time making sure to insert more. She had seen pictures of Rasengan. It didn’t look like a disc. So that meant that the rotation had to be occurring in several different directions at once to form the sphere shape.
Slowly, she rotated her chakra in as many directions as possible, making her hold the object with both hands. She concentrated only on her chakra, her eyes narrowing slightly. Moments later, a loud pop echoed through the library, and Scourge let out a yelp. Water splattering all over her face.
“Oh great.” She muttered, wiping the water away with the back of her sleeve. At least the first step was done, and it had been finished rather quickly if she did say so herself. Now, next step. Hopefully it wouldn’t be as trivial as the last. For a chunin; something like this may have presented a challenge, but for Scourge, not so much. She was a Genshu for God’s Sake! Working with chakra was second nature at this point, and that wasn’t including her bloodline, which relied on chakra to even function. That wasn’t including previous research on the jutsu as well.
Tossing the tattered balloon aside, Scourge reached into the crate next to her, removing a tennis ball. Normally she would have bought a all rubber ball with a hallowed inside, but the store she went to didn’t supply such a thing. A tennis ball would work though. It just might be harder to break. The second step was density or something. Which wouldn’t be to hard. Naturally the rubber on this ball was more durable then that of the balloon she had just popped, but her chakra was pretty dense already; right?
Her hand clenched the ball focusing her chakra into the object, she flinched slightly, grimacing. It hurt slightly, but the pain was bearable. She had dealt with much worse. It seemed like her hand was cramping up; if that was possible. She rotated the chakra slowly; and…nothing.
“Damn it.” She muttered. Something told her she’d be doing this for awhile.
-
The ball popped. Although not as she had wished. Scourge growled, glaring at the small hole that she had created. A start, but she needed more. It was obvious that she wasn’t focusing enough; or maybe she wasn’t rotating fast enough. She tossed the flat ball aside; watching it land into a pile of other tattered balls that had turned out the same. This was defiantly taking longer then the water balloon. But progress was progress; she had no right to feel impatient. The Genshu sighed, removing another rubber ball.
She would try something a bit different. She clenched the rubber tightly, and instead of the normal amount she’d insert, Scourge powered as much chakra as her hand could withstand. She flinched again, her hand protesting. Her other hand grasped her wrist, holding her hand in place. Scourge was aggravated, that much went without saying.
Finally, when her hand had seemed to grow numb, and trembled in the grasp of her grip, did she then rotate the chakra, and not slowly either. She forced the chakra to rotate as quickly as her control could perform. She felt a drop of sweat drop down the side of her face, and she closed her eyes, concentrating.
A loud pop echoed through the Archives. Success.
-
She was panting, her knees deep into the mud beneath her. She had fallen to her knees taking a small breather. The third step was simple enough to grasp, and now, the Genshu had focused on actually forming the Rasengan itself. Rising to her feet again, Scourge Taiyo took a deep breath holding out her hand, but also making sure to grasp her wrist with her other hand. Slowly, the small orb of chakra began to gather, and it gave off a small light glow. The Genshu inspected the forest around her. It was raining of course. She had run off to a nearby training grounds. She didn’t dare try to attempt this jutsu in the library, for fear of destroying important information.
Bringing her hand back; Scourge jumped forward towards the nearest tree, with a exclamation of “Rasengan!” Her hand came flying forward; colliding with the bark of the tree, and almost immediately, a large chunk of the tree seemed to vanish; ripped away and charred through from the chakra. The Genshu smirked, her hand pressing against the hole. It was great. That was the most amount of damage she had achieved with it yet. She glanced around the other trees; noting the damage done, and the ripped bark. She shrugged.
Holding out her hand, another Rasengan formed. “Ohh Boy; I can’t wait to show this off!”
